Bergen Travel Basketball League Rules
2010
Division: Fourth (4th Grade)
BTBL will adhere to High School Basketball Rules with the following exceptions:
Basketball Size = 28.5 Basket Height = 10’
Time = 7 minute quarters; 3 minute Overtime; No running time
Roster Size = 15 Maximum*
Playing Time = no mandated playing time
Foul line = Boys - May go over line except to gain rebounding advantage
Girls - Shoots 2 feet in front of regulation foul line. May go over line except to gain rebounding advantage
Fouls – Regular = 5 and out
Technical = 2 and out
Fighting and/or use of profanity – see general rules
Bonus = in effect on the 7th team foul
Fouling out = upon 5th individual foul including technical fouls
3 point shot = no
No defense allowed in backcourt. After second warning of defense in backcourt results in a technical foul.
Full court press = Final two (2) minutes of 4th quarter and overtime.
Mercy Rule = no full court press by winning team if up by 10 points.
Time Outs = 4 full one minute, no 30 second time outs
Overtime = 3 minutes; repeat as necessary
3 seconds in foul lane = increased to 5 for girls
Coaches on Bench = 2 maximum
Playoffs = Top 4 teams.
* Playing more than 15 players or playing a non roster player will result in a forfeit of the game, however, this type of forfeit will not be grounds to be expelled from the league but it will hurt your chances to make the playoffs.
REFEREES SHOULD REVIEW ALL RULES PRIOR TO GAME WITH BOTH TEAMS.
